great read that’s a little cliche
Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?
I came across this via NetGalley and it sounded like something I would like. I was in the mood for a quick paranormal romance and this hit the spot. The first half was full of wonderfully tense will-they-won’t-they and the last half was just as tense with can’t-be-together torment. The mythology was handled well, but was slightly confusing if you cared enough to keep track of all the dynasties. I liked wondering what was special about Lily and while it wasn’t a HUGE shocker, I liked how it turned out. It should be no surprise that Tynan stole my heart.
While a great mix of light laughs, tense romance, and dangerous action this book was exactly what I needed. I was not surprised to see who the leads were for the next book, but I am upset that I have to wait until January to get my hands on it!
Brief Summary
Enter the world of the Dark Dynasties . . .
For centuries, shapeshifting vampire Tynan MacGillivray has prowled the night as an outcast, valued only for his ferocious hunting skills. When a feud among the immortals escalates into all-out war, he is ordered by his ruthless queen to locate a Seer-a human woman with a special gift-who can secure victory for their clan. Ty’s search leads him to a quiet New England town, but once he has the Seer in his grasp, her touch awakens within him a hunger like he’s never known . . .
Lily Quinn has always been different. Since childhood, she’s had vivid nightmares and an eerie sixth sense. When a sexy, silver-eyed stranger demands her help, Lily plunges into a new world of danger and sensuality. With Ty, she discovers sizzling passions she cannot deny and powers she cannot control. Soon, it is clear that Lily is much more than a Seer-she holds the key to ancient secrets and unthinkable destruction. But will a vampire’s vow of eternal protection stop these evil forces . . . or unleash her dark destiny?

Favorite Quotes
Directional impairment was one of her defining features, right along with her inexplicable aversion to suitable men. If she could only find a well-educated, Shakespeare-quoting bad boy who still had a thing for sexy tattoos and maybe a mild leather fetish, she might at least have a shot at avoiding her probable future as a crazy old cat lady.
- if only….
“Sometimes you just have to accept the hand you’re dealt.”
“And sometimes you get abducted by some vampire bitch’s pet cat.”

None of my GoodReads friends have read this yet. Have you?

Sounds interesting. I’d ask if I’d like it, but I’m just going to assume that if I would, you are going to tell me eventually.
I almost grabbed this one too and will have to get it when it comes out. It sounds different but really good
Ohhh I’m such a huge fan of paranormal romance, I’m loving the sound of this one! Sometimes I don’t mind the cliche elements if overall it’s an entertaining read, all I can really ask for is to have fun while reading:) Thanks for the recommendation Tara!
@ Amanda (On a Book Bender) : I’m not sure if you’d like this one or not. It was more a romance than mystery or thriller. It was a pretty quick read.
@ Felicia : I think you’ll like this! Can’t wait to see what you think of it
@ Jenny : I didn’t mind the cliche because I liked the characters and world. I love an easy, fun read (they just don’t tend to get as high of ratings).
I was debating whether I should request this one from NG or not. I have so many PNR’s in my TBR pile that I’m searching for ones that have the potential to really stand out! I am intrigued by Lily’s sixth sense ability that the blurb mentioned. I’ll probably buy it when it comes out. Great review!

Sounds interesting. I love it when an author weaves mythology into their stories, but puts a unique spin on it. Thanks for the rec!
Smiles!
