In Six Words:
imperfect heroine also hates love triangles
Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?
I really enjoyed the first in the series so it was of no question that I would be reading this. I am extremely grateful to the author for providing me with a copy to read and review! As soon as I get caught up on everything that was put on hold while I fought the virus from Hell, I’ll be hosting a giveaway of your choice of this or the first in the series to go along with a character interview.
While I really liked the first book in the series, it took me a little while to really get into it. That was not a problem with this one. We jump right in with Jolie recovering from her battle with Ordan’s strongest fighter and I loved that this was included. I feel like this part of books is usually skipped over or not mentioned. Of course she was drained after that! I loved watching her work towards helping the others and found the balance between romance and war to be perfect.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the addition of Sinjin as a possible love interest, however, I shouldn’t have questioned HP. I like the way it was handled. I believe Jolie even mentions how terrible it is to be hurting two people at the same time. Oh but I love Sinjin!! I want him for myself
The tension between Jolie and Rand goes up a few notches and I think it was played out very well.
I really loved the setting and plot twists near the end (one of which I kinda saw coming, but loved all the same). I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on the next book and highly recommend this series!
PS. Can I mention the fact that I LOVE LOVE LOVE that one of my favorite bands (Say Hi to Your Mom) was mentioned in this book?! I’m actually planning a trip to go see them next month! I’ll be doing a whole post on the album soon!

Well screw it, he wasn’t my King. I didn’t vote for him, as Monty Python would say.
Christa had been emotional about it – her goodbye to John rivaled the death scene in Titanic.

WOOT! I am almost finished and I am enjoying this one more than the first one. Joely is such a perfect imperfect heroin!
A Monty Python reference? I *have* to read this. Great review!

w00t! I have this one on my TBR for this month and I can’t wait to see what Jolie gets herself into next.
I think Sinjin is a great character, and he certainly makes me laugh, but Rand has a Darcy quality to him that just makes him so swoon worth.
Great quotes. Glad you enjoyed it.
I’ve been reading a lot of good reviews about this one, but yours is the one that convinced me to add it to my TBR list for sure. Glad you enjoyed it, and glad you’re feeling better!
@ Natalie : Yay!! You really need to give this series a try. Not only are the books really good, but the author is super nice (always a bonus)!
@ Missie : Sinjin is amazing. I really want him all for myself
He is sexy and funny – while still not quite being a good guy (or at least we’re not sure if he is or not).
Rand is such a Darcy! Great comparison!
@ E.J. Stevens : I know!! The author has a great sense of humor
@ Felicia : I think I liked this more than the first one too! Jolie really is a perfectly flawed lead female. She feels more “real” than a lot do in this genre.
