Trick or Treat for Books
hosted by:
Hi! My name is Tara and I’m afraid of ghosts. I wish I were kidding. Ghosts are the only paranormal element that I’m actually afraid of in real life. As much as I wish a hot vampire would come along and seduce me, I don’t honestly wonder if the hot guy sitting next to me at Starbucks is an immortal blood-sucker. However, whenever I hear a weird sound or my cat is staring at nothing, I think there is a ghost in my house.

I sometimes wonder if my fear of ghosts has to do with my imaginary friends. I think I need to clarify this one. I don’t currently have imaginary friends, but I had a few when I was little. One in particular was extremely real to me. According to my mother I believed she was really there opposed to pretending to play with her. There are many stories about a child’s imaginary friend turning out to be a ghost (like this creepy one). I was never afraid of my “friends” and would even play with them in the basement of our old house alone. As I grew older, I quit playing with them and then later became afraid of ghosts.
Now as an adult I often think I’m seeing something out the corner of my eye and I have to give myself a little talk about how I’m a rational adult with a microbiology degree who needs facts to prove things and cannot possibly believe in ghosts (specially since I don’t believe in souls). In order to decrease the number of these talks, I avoid movies and books about ghosts. Recently I’ve come across some books that have changed my mind on this rule.
As part of this past week’s mini-giveaway I asked for suggestions on books about ghosts. Here are the top suggestions:
The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade
Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready
Deception by Lee Nichols
A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender

I don’t believe in ghosts. I’m too much of a sceptic.
Yes, I believe in ghosts. I have no reason on my own encounters, but my mother (who was a very down to earth lady) had several encounters. I don’t think my mind is open enough for my own experience.
Thanks for the great books in the giveaway!!

I don’t believe in ghosts, but my roommate does. We’ve had several interesting conversations about them recently.
No, I don’t believe in ghosts. I haven’t seen any myself.

Ghosts do exist because I’ve seen them with my very own eyes, not once but on several occasions! Not vicious ones though but still sends chills down your spine!
I might sound chicken, but honestly I’m afraid of ghosts. I have to decline my friends everytime they invite me to watch creepy movies. I haven’t seen one yet (and I’m thankful for that) but I believe in them because my mom told me she had seen a few and I know she wasn’t joking.
PS The picture posted above really crept me out.

I don’t believe in ghosts. Weird things happen but I doubt it’s a ghost.

I believe that there are something beyond what we can see and experience. Ghosts are a possibility!
Wow, you had imaginary friends. I didn’t. I’m not sure if I believe in ghosts. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I am still afraid of ghosts though. Yikes! I usually don’t believe ghosts (and even God(s)!) after having science classes or reading science books or doing science homeworks LOL. But sometimes I believe @_@
I do believe in ghosts. Pretty sure Ive seen one at least once and other spooky things have happened before.

I’ve never encountered a ghost but I like to keep an open mind.
I believe in ghost but I’m not really afraid of them. I don’t think they really would want to hurt anyone (at least I hope not)
Great giveaway! Thanks
won’t believe until I encounter one.
I do believe in ghosts, because I have heard footsteps when I was alone in my house and I have witnessed a paranormal event. I was alone at home and I looked into my fireplace doors (shiny reflective glass) and I saw feet walking across the floor.
I don’t really believe in ghosts. But that might change.
I think that ghosts are real. Although I haven’t actually saw one….yet anyway. But I’m open to it. From ghost stories to ghost hunters I just can’t get enough.
I absolutely believe in ghosts because there are just some things out there that one cannot explain rationally.
I really there are ghost. And I have to admit i’m a scaredy cat!
I’ve never had any personal experience with ghosts, but don’t not believe. My hubby has stories of a house he lived in as a kid that their whole family believe was haunted (nothing bad, just strange goings on) so I do believe him. I hope I don’t come across any friendly or not
My son swears our house is haunted, but he loves ghost hunter and things like that so I think he’s just hopeful.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I definitely do!! I’ve had some unbelievable things happen to us in my old house where we lived for more than 20 years: the light switch would click off and on, and there was one really weird happening:
I woke up at 3:40 am to loud snoring. I looked across my room and saw the silhouette of my dad lying on the spare bed, and snoring there, I went back to sleep wondering if he had a fight with my mom or why he would sleep there. The next morning I asked my dad and he told me he slept in his own bed, he just woke up at 3:40 am! To this day I ahve no idea if it was my dad’s astral prohection or the ghost of the house, but someone was there, since I heard the snoring even when I was awake!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
I totally believe in ghosts!! Wish I had experiences with them.
Don’t believe in ghosts but if I ever meet one i’ll probably change my mind lol.
Love Stacia Kanes Ghost series.

I actually do believe in ghosts!! The weird thing about me is that as much as I’m afraid of them because I’m a big ‘ol chicken shit – I am fascinated by them. Next to vamps, they’re my second fave paranormal entity. I love watching ghost shows and telling ghost stories from some freaky encounters that I had as a kid (which to this day I don’t know if they were real or if I was just reallllly imaginative!)
Great giveaway – Count me in! I think I’d like “The Ghost & Goth” but you have some other great titles on there too!

I really dont believe in ghosts.
I do believe in ghosts. My dad saw my uncle after his death and my grandmother saw my grandfather. There have been too many people who have seen ghosts not to believe in them.
I don’t really believe in ghosts! I usually only believe something if I see it with my own eyes!
Yes, I believe in ghosts. I can’t say I’ve ever seen one, but I remember seeing The Exorcism of Emily Rose and how she kept smelling a burning smell. I have smelled burning smells several times over the years with no clear explanation so it kind of convinced me that there are some types of supernatural forces out there.
I definitely believe in ghosts. I haven’t had a personal experience, but my honey and members of my family have. They have all been with family members that have died.
Shade is a book I’ve been really looking forward to reading. I was going to say ‘dying’ to read, but that just seemed wrong. lol

I don’t believe in ghosts as they are usually portraid but I do believe that some kind of spirit is possible.
I have never read or heard any good explanation of this, however.

Well, I don’t believe in ghosts, however ghosts & zombies are the most terrifying “monsters” to me. There’s just something creepy about the undead that you can’t really destroy… (vampires maybe hard to kill, but there’s a confirmed way to do it – stake or beheading)… zombies & ghosts on the other hand… ?
Thanks for the fun giveaways! : )

I believe in ghosts, although I haven’t saw one but sometimes in my house, creepy things happens.
Thanks for the giveaways!

I had a room mate in college that used to live on the wagon trail to the West in Ohio and she said they would hear wagon’s going by all the time and a little kid yelling “Wait for me Papa.” They would also stick their hands under the house and it was like their hand had disappeared and they’d pull it out and always find an arrowhead or something. Then she said they also lived next to a bonafide witch, not a Wiccan, a witch. If you knew this girl, you’d know she wasn’t kidding. It was just one of those weird things that happened to her family.
I choose not to believe in ghosts, but I do see things out of the corner of my eye and sometimes think I see my father sitting on the couch, when I know he’s dead. I remind myself of that before I look up again, because he wasn’t very nice to me. Things disappear, only to turn up later somewhere I checked a thousand times. I don’t want to believe in ghosts, so I don’t. I just say it’s my mind playing tricks on me. But I’ll never live without a couple of dogs.
I believe that there is a possibility that ghosts exist but I have not seen one.
I believe in the possibilities that ghost exist. I haven’t experienced anything that confirms it form me. I had a roommate in college who swore her parent’s house had ghost. My sister-in-law swears she has seen a ghost in her house.
I definitely believe in the possibility of ghosts but I haven’t had any paranormal experiences. I would love to win any of those books. I’ve read Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane, it was amazing!

I don’t believe in ghosts. I mean, I suppose they could exist but so far everything I have heard people attribute to ghost seems just as likely to be due to something else…like an overactive imagination.

What a great giveaway. Thanks for the entry. I do beleive and that is probably because we here footsteps in our house above us on whatever floor we are on and usually nobody is above us and the kids are gone. We have seen nothing only heard the footsteps and that has been going on for seven years now.
