This book in 6 words:

why was I worried about this?

Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?

As you may or may not have noticed I have a DH problem (I think I need to come up with a new term for it…), but as much as I love this series, I was worried about this book. It wasn’t about any of the previous known characters and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to connect. I was wrong. While it couldn’t quite compete with Seize the Night (still my favorite), I laughed and teared up and learned more about characters I love.

Danger was a joy. She loves life and her job. While she may look harmless with her short stature and beauty, she can and will kick your ass. The Alexion was creepy in a “you really feel sorry for him” kind of way. His existence was terribly depressing. However, I warmed up to him as we learned more about his personality and saw his humanity rise to the surface. I can’t say I was completely sold on their relationship building as “realistically” as the previous couples, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I hated seeing the Dark Hunters rebel against Ash! But it was realistic and definitely kept me on edge. I really loved seeing an old threat in a completely new way.

I am glad that I read the novella “The Beginning” prior to this (which was included in the Kindle edition of the book).

SPOILER ALERT: While they kinda got a HEA, I felt like this was one of the more depressing solutions.

Favorite Quotes

Oh yeah, this was so comforting. Like a porcupine in a condom factory.

Life was a trade-off. No one could have it all. Everything came down to what sacrifice you were willing to make for your dreams.

Whoever looked at him and thought, ‘gorgeous blond elf,’ definitely deserves an award of some kind. (talking about Orlando Bloom)

Brief Summary

In the realm of the Dark-Hunters there is a code of honor that even immortal bad boys must follow:

Harm no human. Drink no blood. Never fall in love.

But every now and again a Dark-Hunter thinks himself above the Code. That’s when I’m summoned. Who am I? I’m the one thing the fearless fear. Step over the line and it’s my wrath you will face. Nothing can touch me. Nothing can sway me. I am relentless and unfeeling.

Or so I thought until I met a female Dark-Hunter who goes by the name of Danger-it’s not just her name, it’s how she lives her life. She doesn’t trust me at all. And who could blame her? She alone knows that I’m here to be judge, jury and most likely executioner of her friends. Yet she is my key to saving some of them. Without her, they all will die.

Dangereuse St. Richard is a deadly distraction. Something about her is reawakening a heart I thought was long dead. But in a race against evil, the only hope mankind has is that I do my duty. And how can I do my duty when it means that I will have to sacrifice the only woman I’ve ever loved?

  • Gosh–it has been so long since I have read this one and my old reviews on these are horrid (think I was reading them fast LOL)! I do remember thinking it was absolutely realistic they rebelled because Ash holds so much back from them. For their own good most of the time but still none of us take that well :)

@ Felicia : I definitely thought it was realistic! I cannot wait to read Ash’s story!!!
