Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?
I signed up to review this after I decided I had been putting off this series for too long. I’m glad I did. I really enjoyed the first two books (loved the couple in the first and the action in the second). This one is my favorite of the series (so far – I’m really excited for the next one after reading the description). I laughed a lot and while I felt like it was a tad predictable, I was still on the edge of my seat through-out the entire action-packed book… which I read front to back.
As I mentioned above, I’m counting down to the next book and will be checking out future series by the author.
Brief Summary
Hunter Wild is the youngest in a long line of elite vampire hunters, a legacy that is both a blessing and a curse at the secret Helios-Ra Academy, where she excels at just about everything. Thanks to her friendship with Kieran Black, Hunter receives a special invitation to attend the coronation of Helena Drake, and for the first time, she sees the difference between vampires that must be hunted and vampires that can become friends—or even more. When students at the academy fall victim to a mysterious illness, Hunter suspects they are under attack from within. She will need someone she can trust to help her save the future of Helios-Ra . . . help that shockingly comes in the form of Quinn Drake, a drop-dead gorgeous vampire. Who said senior year would be easy?

Plot/Pacing/Writing Style
Again we pick up right after the last book ends and while we have the continued Drake family drama, we also now have some Helios-Ra school mysteries. I found the mystery surrounding the purpose of the pills predictable, but I didn’t know where they were coming from.
I’m very much wanting to see more of Solange in the next book after what we learn in this one (poor girl!) and from what I’ve read we’ll not only get to see more of her, but lots of Lucy and Nicholas too! I still have some answered questions (but they are still minor) and I feel like I’m learning more and more with each book so I’ll be patient.
Characters
I was surprised to like Hunter as much I did. I honestly wasn’t sure what to think after our brief introduction to her in the last book. I was impressed with her open-mindedness considering her family and her want to fulfill her duty as a vampire hunter even though she longed for a more normal life. At first I wasn’t sold on why she was so drawn to Quinn (other than physically), but the more time they spent together and the more we learned about him, it wasn’t long before I was swooning as well.
Quinn is just plain fantastic. He is a player that has no problem getting ladies and no shame in bragging about it. Watching him realize he actually cared about a girl was surprisingly cute as was his devotion to his family. His interaction with Hunter either made me laugh or sigh, which I consider to be a wonderful thing.
