Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?

This was a vacation book.  I was glad to have it, though I wasn’t really a fan of the book.  I used to love James Patterson (and Alex Cross), but stopped reading him for a while.  I don’t exactly feel encouraged to read more.

Brief Summary

Plot/Pacing/Writing Style

I thought the plot was kind of stupid.  Well, more specifically, I thought Alex Cross was stupid, gallivanting across the continent of Africa, despite the multiple times he was beaten up and his life was threatened.  Granted, it has been years since I last read any books in this series, but there was something about this book that made me feel like Alex Cross has become too sensationalized; it was just too much.  It’s like every Alex Cross book has to top and be bigger than the last one.

Characters

This is definitely not the Alex Cross I remember.  To be honest, I didn’t really like him in this book.

Recommendations

If you’ve stuck with the Alex Cross series throughout the years, then you might as well read this one too.
