This book in 6 words:
dark and twisted with intense heat
Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?
*I’m just doing a brief review since this is part of an ongoing series and not a new release*
I believe I said Lover Eternal (BDB 2) was a dark book, well this one makes it look like a Disney movie. I’ve heard that a lot of people think Lover Awakened is the best in the series (so far) and I can see why. This book drags you through the coals emotionally, but you can’t help feeling hopeful. Z is ruined. Bella is slightly broken. Overall this book was hard to read. Not in a confusing way (although I’m still not overly fond of the differing POVs), but in a “I just can’t hear one more terrible thing” kind of way.I don’t remember laughing much during this one, but it still packs the heat and action.
While so far the last book, Lover Eternal, is my favorite, I think Z and Bella are my favorite couple so far. I’m a little hesitant to start the next one because I’m not a huge fan of Butch.
Brief Summary
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other – six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Of these, Zsadist is the most terrifying member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion—until he rescues a beautiful aristocrat from the evil Lessening Society.
Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for one another begins to overtake them both, Zsadist’s thirst for vengeance against Bella’s tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now, Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past, and find a future with her…

You are coming up on my fav in the series
This was my favorite book of the series! I love Z! Because, you know, scary psychos are soooo attractive, esp when they are broken on the inside.
Somethings didn’t sit well with me in this book. Like Z’s approach to sex before Bella. A guy never allowing himself to release? What? It was too weirdish. Or something.
But I’m glad he got through it. And Bella and Z are my fav couple, too!
Have you read Father Mine yet? It’s great!
@ Felicia : Which one is your favorite?
@ Missie : Hahaha yes
Yeah I thought that was really weird and him calling his package “it” all the time weirded me out too (but I guess it is supposed to).
I have not, but I have it. I started it and it had a character I haven’t met so I was afraid of reading it out of order. When does it take place?
After Phury’s book!
@ Missie : Ah thanks! I’m sure I’ll need a Z & Bella fix by then
