Eclipse {movie review}

I’m going to make this very brief mostly due to the fact that it’s 2:30am and I have to work a double tomorrow, but also because I’m sure there will be a TON of Eclipse reviews going up today…

Eclipse (2010)

based on the book Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

Did I Like It?

YES! I was honestly surprised and pleased! Go ahead and get your hopes up 🙂 I wasn’t a huge fan of the first two movies due to how much was changed and/or acting and budget issues. This one takes care of those. I think some of the teens are still a little more awkward that I pictured them, but they’re better than the last movies… I really love how the director broke up the movie and included plenty of romance and back story with action and laughter.

How Did It Compare to the Book?

This is by far the best of the three as far as sticking to the book. I cannot think of one thing it was missing (that I wanted to see). They even included all the back-stories (which I was afraid they would leave out). Also the tent scene is EXACTLY what I would have pictured 🙂

Recommendations

This is a no brainer if you love the books. If you only like the movies, then you’ll love this one as well (but should watch the first two prior to seeing this). I can’t wait to take my husband to see this 🙂

I’m feeling pretty jealous that you’ve seen it already! I don’t get to watch it til Midnight Friday, when it premieres in the UK.

  2. Felicia says:

Good Review! I am going to see it Sunday but was not getting my hopes up at all—I really did not like New Moon at all. I will now be cautiously optimistic 🙂

@ Felicia : I think you’ll really enjoy it! I felt like it was a great balance of sticking to the book and changing it up to work as a movie 🙂

  3. Missie says:

OMG! You went to the Midnight showing? I super jelly. I’ve been for the past two movies, but skipped it this year since I’m dealing with Hurricane Alex. Hopefully when the storm passes, I’ll be able to check it out!

    Get some rest!

    • Tara SG says:

@ Missie : Yep 🙂 I even wore my “I (heart) Vampires” shirt!

OH NO! I hope the weather gets better!

  4. Natalie says:

I wasn’t planning on seeing this one, since I’m one of the few bloggers who isn’t a huge fan of the books. Knowing my luck, I’ll get dragged along anyways! Lol. But I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

    • Tara SG says:

@ Natalie : Well although I don’t like to talk about it… I am one of “those” people who started reading again after reading Twilight. I openly admit that it isn’t the best written book series, but it played with my emotions and made me swoon (and that’s all I needed to search for better books to the same thing).

If you go just for pure entertainment and don’t expect more than teen drama, you might like it 🙂

  5. I skipped New Moon but I liked the Eclipse the book so much I think I’ll go see this one. I really want to see that tent scene!

@ Fiction Vixen : You have to see this one! I wasn’t a huge fan of the first two movies, but this one impressed me 🙂
