This book in 6 words:
steamy steam-punk paranormal filled with mystery
Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?
After the author started following me on Twitter, I check out their website. The cover and description of the book really caught my attention! I contact the publisher to see if there were any reviews of the book and they asked me if I wanted to review it. Of course I said “yes”. I’m glad I read it. I actually read it all in one sitting. I wish I would have been a little more prepared for the descriptive sex and violence, but overall it didn’t bother me.
Brief Summary
Arthur has made his existence as a vampire bearable for over three hundred years by immersing himself in blood and debauchery. Aboard an airship gala, he meets Avalon, an aspiring vampire slayer who sparks fire into Arthur’s shriveled heart. Together they try to solve the mystery of several horrendous murders on the dark streets of London. Cultures clash and pressures rise in this sexy Steampunk Romance.

Plot/Pacing/Setting
The overall plot was interesting and original. I haven’t read any steampunk novels, so I can’t really compare that part of the book. I felt that the ending was a tab predictable and seemed to rush to a close. The rest of the story, however, was well-paced to keep you guessing while not dragging it out.
Characters
I liked that Author was an important person in history doomed to lose the one he loved and live a damned life. He was a little more evil than the normal lead male. He enjoys playing with and sometimes killing women in high-society.
Avalon is a strong-minded woman ahead of her time. I really liked her as the love interest! I felt like the two played off each other well.
Recommendations
I would recommend this to anyone who likes Steampunk or Paranormal that doesn’t mind sex and a little violence. It wasn’t over the top, just more than I expected. If you are looking for a quick read that is different from your normal reading habits, I’d say go ahead and spend the $0.99 to try it.
Going Deeper – contains very slight spoilers
As soon as Author sees Avalon, a vision of his past love, he falls hard. However, this doesn’t stop him from continuing to sleep around. It’s not until near the end of the novel does he consider saving himself for her. I think I had a hard time getting behind him as a love interest because of this. I personally don’t know that I would forgive him of his past sins no matter how much I fell in love with him. Could you forgive someone if they changed their bad ways for you? Could you forget all the terrible things they had done in the past?

Hmmm…I’ve never heard of this one, but it definitely looks interesting. I might have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up!
