Bones is Mine

Pretty Book Covers!!

(from now on posts related to books/reading/writing that are

opinion or non-review will be under the category “bibliobanter”)

I’m not quite sure how I came across these, but I LOVE them! I got two new book covers to help protect books when I throw them in my purse (and maybe hide some of the more provocative covers lol). They are from different Etsy shops and both have their pluses and minuses…

First up: HideABook!

I got a Small Mass Market Size book cover (not the same design as the link takes you to though). Mine is blue with green birds and white swirls. It has a vinyl covering over the fabric making it more durable and also a little harder to bend to fit the book width. It also has an attached book mark which I love.

::Dimensions::

Small covers fit mass market paperback books (smaller size paperbacks)

6 7/8″ tall by 10″ long (lying flat) and adjustable on the width

17.5 cm by 25.4 cm

:How it Works::

The front cover of your book slips into the front pocket, insert the back cover through the two straps and the adjustable back flap. Easily adapts to fit books of nearly any width. An attached ribbon bookmark keeps your page.

Next up : madbird

I got the Mass Market Paperback Size cover (also in a different pattern than the link). This one has a cloth covering in light blue with multi-colored owls of all sizes. This one fits much easier, but with it being cloth will not protect quite as well. It is a little bigger, but fits the same size books with no problem. It does not have a built in bookmark, but I think the cute front flap almost makes up for that :)

This cover is for Mass market size (the smaller paperbacks – up to just shy of 7″ tall):

-measures 7 1/4″ high and 11″ long when flat (not counting the tapered edge)

Do you use book covers?

PS. I did pay for these and the stores probably don’t even know I wrote this. This is my honest opinion and I just wanted to share my fun new book toys :)

  • I got a book cover for Christmas, which is the very first one I’ve ever had. It’s pretty useful, but not nearly as cute as the ones you have!

  • What a great idea. I use don’t have any but they would have been so nice (especially pre colin) because I almost always keep a book with me just in case.

    @Alita : I can’t believe I never thought of getting one before! I wonder how hard they would be to make…

    @Stacey : I always seem to just throw my book in my purse (that doesn’t have sections) and it gets a little beat up. I wonder if it would be hard to make one that went around like a journal to keep it from opening up in your purse… I might have to play around with that if I ever get a day off :)
