This week’s Blog Improvement task is to create a to-do list for making your blog better. I’m having a hard time coming up with tasks. Not that my blog is perfect by any means! It’s just that after moving everything over and spending hours and hours working on the little details, it’s hard to think of what to do next… So here’s what I’ve got so far. I’m sure I’ll add to it!
- Update my links page. At the very least I need to get all the book blogs I follow on GoogleReader on there.
- Clean out my GoogleReader. This man not seem like “blog improvement”, however, I can’t keep up with commenting and interacting if my reader is a mess.
- Post more opinion pieces instead of all reviews, memes, or contests. I loved writing about P.A.B.D. and I’d like to do more like that. Perhaps I’ll post a poll to find out what people want my opinion on…
- Create a Google Calendar for my posting/reading schedule. I work much better with deadlines.
- Become more interactive with my blog twitter (@25hrbooks) instead of using it merely as a post announcer.
- Re-evaluate my reading challenges to make sure they are all something I really want to do/will be able to accomplish.
- Post Books that Bite updates here.
- Invite more blogging friends to guest post.
- Make sure I’m using post tags efficiently and possibly re-organize my categories.
ADDED:
- Structure my reviews better. (stolen from A Damned Conjuror)
- Write back-up posts to be used during busy weeks. (stolen from Books in the City)
Hmmm… I came up with more than I thought I would… looks like I’ve got a lot to work on

the gCal thing sounds like it would be a good idea for a lot of people.
and ditto with posting more opinion pieces…i used to but haven’t of late
Oh, good idea with Twitter! Twitterfeed automatically updates with my new posts, but I definitely don’t interact with people as often as I would like or should.
I’m hoping it will help keep a more organized schedule. I feel like I’m mostly posting memes with a splash of reviews :/
I feel like book bloggers tweet a lot! I got really overwhelmed trying to keep up with everyone and I just let it become a post announcer. I’m hoping to use Brizzly to get a little more organized.
Gawdddd we need to do everything on this list haha. This is a great idea excited to see all of the improvements!!! you rock
Thanks
Awesome list, I’m trying to keep my Twitter more active too. I tend to stick to my personal one I need to share more stuff on SSS.
Great list, ohh and he Google Reader cleanup might need to make my list too.
My Google Reader is a mess! I really need to get rid of the ones that I skip every time lol.
Thank you for signing up to BIP!
I have found that being active on twitter helps my blog a lot in terms of increased traffic. I hope that you manage to use it more effectively and see the benefits.
Good luck with all your goals!
Thank you!! I think I need to start using the “lists” feature on Twitter.
